Melanie Adele Martinez (April 28, 1995) is a singer and songwriter of the genre Indie Pop (Alternative Pop), born in the United States. In 2012, I have participated in the third season of the talent contest The Voice . She became part of the Adam team, where her popularity increased. In the fifth week, she was eliminated, leading her to dedicate herself to her individual career with original songs.Editar


Melanie was raised in Baldwin, New York. At age 3, she discovered she love of music. A year later, she learned to play guitar by herself, because her parents could not afford music lessons for her. He began composing songs at age 14, participating in some talent contests at school. I've posted several of his songs on Youtube, the oldest being Smoke , I Think I'm Crazy and Birthing Addicts . She also did several covers , including The One That Got Away , by singer Katy Perry, before joining The Voice . In High School, I have created a taste for photography, mainly for portraits and conceptual works.


2012: Early career, The Voice Editar

Melanie Martinez participated in the third season of The Voice program . She sang Toxic , by Britney Spears, in her "blind audition," and turned three chairs: Adam Levine, CeeLo Green and Blake Shelton. Martinez chose Levine, and moved on to the next step. It competed against Caitlin Michele, who sang the music Lights , of Ellie Goulding. Levine chose Melanie, who went on to the next step.

During the episode of October 9, Martinez competed against Sam James, choosing to sing Bulletproof , from La Roux. Again, Levine chose Melanie, who followed the live round. In this, Melanie sang Hit The Road Jack , by Ray Charles. The public did not vote to save Melanie, but Adam decided to leave her on the team. She went to the second week of the live live, where she sang Young The Giant's Cough Syrup . This time the audience chose to save her, so she went on to the third week with The White Stripes' Seven Nation Army . Martinez went on to the fourth week of the live rounds, where she sang Too Close, by Alex Clare. Seven Nation Army and Too Close went to the top 10 songs on iTunes, making their points multiplied by 10, twice.

Starting in the fifth week, The Voice singers had to sing two songs. Martinez chose to sing Crazy , from Gnarls Barkley and Levine chose The Show , from Lenka to her. Neither song went to the top 10 on iTunes, and Melanie was disqualified.

2014-2015: Dollhouse EP and American Horror StoryEditar

Dollhouse EP

After being eliminated in the Top 6 on The Voice , Melanie Martinez began working independently on original content. On April 7, 2014, she announced that she had signed a contract with Atlantic Records, and that she would begin the tour. Released a new single, called Dollhouse on February 9, 2014, along with a video clip. The song portrays a family that looks perfect on the outside, but there are a lot of problems going on inside. A time later, Melanie Martinez released Dollhouse EP on May 19, 2014, which included Dollhouse , Carousel , which later received a video clip in October of the same year, Dead To Me andBittersweet Tragedy . The EP talks about a relationship that does not work, excluding Dollhouse .

When the trailer for American Horror Story: Freak Show was released, Carousel was chosen as the trailer's song. This helped the song become popular by making Melanie release the video clip for him. This was released on October 15, 2014.

2015-2016: Cry BabyEditar

Melanie Martinez released her album, Cry Baby , on August 14, 2015.

The single Pity Party was released on June 1, 2015. The second single, Soap , on July 10, 2015. The third single, Sippy Cup , was released on July 31st. Cry Baby  was released on August 14, 2015. It released a second video clip of Soap along with Training Wheels on November 18, 2015. Its special Christmas, Gingerbread Man , released on December 23, 2015. The video clip of his song, Cry Baby , was released on March 14, 2016. The fourth single, alongside his video clip, Alphabet Boy , was released on June 2, 2016. Tag You're It andMilk And Cookies were released on August 23, 2016. On November 15, 2016, Pacify Her was released. On December 1, 2016, that of Mrs. Potato Head was released and on September 23, 2017 Mad Hatter, thus ending the Cry Baby era . Some fans believe that the deluxe tracks will also have a clip, but Melanie has already said no.

2016-Present: Second AlbumEditar

Melanie is currently working on her new album, which will be released in 2017. Two photos on her Instagram were posted with lyrics, revealing two possible songs from the new album: one on April 13 and another on May 17 .

Personal lifeEditar

Melanie says that one of her earliest memories is from her third birthday, where her parents hired a man costumed by Barney to entertain. She says it was "the worst birthday party," because of how weird it was.

She wears a wig, but she has already painted the hair in black and blonde (which she used extensively in The voice), black and blue gray, black and blue (with the pink tips on the blue side, used in the Carousel clip ), black and blue dark (also used in The Voice less often)


Currently, Melanie is dating Michael Keenan, who will produce his next album. Previously, she was dating her drummer, Miles Nasta, Vinnie DiCarlo, Jared Dylan and Edwin Zabala, the actor who acted as Cry Baby's brother in Dollhouse .
